Good evening everybody! I’m back again to share with you my recovery update from my car accident a couple weeks back! As you all know if you read by previous post, I went to my appointment yesterday with an orthopedic. I arrived at about 08:00 in the morning, a cold, sunny, morning. Filled out some paperwork and was seen almost right away! That was definitely nice, it always beats having to way forever! Hahaha!
Upon going to my checkup I was asked to perform a series of tasks to help judge how well I was healing and what my arm mobility level was. I did pretty well, could move my arm quite a bit actually, according to the doctor, I had an overstretched ligament from my clavicle breaking, but other then that broken part of my collarbone and shoulder bone, everything else was still connected and working properly. Compensating for the bone but working still! I still thank god to this day for nothing horrible going on from that day of the accident.
I also learned that I didn’t have to have surgery either! That’s always good news! I wanted to avoid having that surgery. Having surgery would’ve been a huge blow to be honest. I wouldn’t be able to use my arm hardly anymore and be stuck in that sling even longer! But this way, since I don’t need surgery, I also learned I didn’t need to always use the sling, it was just basically their for my comfort and to help people go around me and create a little bubble that would allow my shoulder to not be hit during the healing process.
Needless to say, after I heard that news from the nurse practitioner, I pretty much stopped using the sling unless my arm feels really heavy or hurts more than it should. But I haven’t felt that yet, which is good. I’ve been without my sling since the appointment, and hope to continue to not have to use it for the time being. Now to let it heal over the next few weeks until my follow-up appointment! And then, to make sure the information on my car is the proper information, so that I can push my vehicle claim process forward!
Until next time my amazing peeps! Have yourself a good rest of the night/morning/afternoon, depending on where you are at! Also, let me know below, have any of you had a broken bone? If yes, did you need to have surgery or no? Thanks for reading!
