My Wife

At one point in my life, I was in a deep hole. I had been in a relationship for about seven months with someone I thought I loved and cared for, but the longer we were together, the further we grew apart. I don’t know if I was the cause or if the supposed friend she was trying to help was the cause. You may ask me what friend I was talking about; well, this individual had always talked to my then-girlfriend from the beginning of our relationship. She told me that he was nobody to worry about, and all she was doing was helping him out since he had different kinds of mental health issues.

When I look back, my memory shows that trusting what she said was my first mistake. I should never have believed that, but I like to give different people the benefit of the doubt as I don’t want to ever come off as someone being possessive or controlling. As a man who grew up in the Seventh-Day-Adventist church, I was instilled with a good set of morals, always be kind to others, and treat them how we would want to be treated, and that’s how I treated this. It doesn’t help that it was my first relationship, and as we all know, the first relationship is always the hardest to get over. I know plenty of people that have had the same issue, and you all do, too, I’m sure.

When it got towards the end of our time together, when my then-girlfriend finally decided to break up with me, I was devastated. You see, I wasn’t as devastated over the breakup as one may think; I was more devastated over the fact of why she broke up with me and who she went to as soon as they left me. You see, she broke up with me because she said I was controlling, too needy, and couldn’t keep a job (although I did keep a job and was never jobless. There was not a single break in employment the entire time we were together).

Yes, I may have had three different jobs during that time, but the first one I left on good terms because I wanted to start a new chapter in my working career. I went to become a cellphone sales rep. I was let go because I couldn’t make monthly sales quotas. Soon after that, I got a new job with a security agency; I kept that job for over three years and held many different positions. One could say I was very successful.

That is a story for another time, and we should probably get back to the original story. As I said, my girlfriend at the time said I wasn’t going to be able to do anything in my life and left me. For who, though? Well, remember when I said I should have been more careful about the individual she was talking to from when we began dating? Well, it was none other than him.

Now don’t get me wrong, this is not the case in all situations similar to this one, but unfortunately, the scallywag was part of my situation. It devastated me, and I had been heartbroken and recovering for almost a year before I finally met the woman that now holds my heart and has become part of my family.

It’s crazy how you can meet so many people on Tinder, but most of the time, it isn’t for anything other than a quick hook up here and there, but occasionally something magical happens, someone finds someone that they end up spending time with for the rest of their life. It’s a crazy concoction. I am proud to say I was one of the few who could feel and be a part of the exceptional cases of Tinder relationships.

I met her a few months after my breakup. I was still at the same job, cell phones sales but was about to get separated. You see, I began talking to her while I was heartbroken, and she was there to support me; although she liked me, she wanted to help me before starting a blossoming and prosperous relationship. When you think about it, you don’t wish to have baggage brought into new relationships, so the best way to be sure of this is to be a friend first before becoming a couple.

I know, in this world, they always say that you end up friend-zoned, and although that may be true, it isn’t when it’s in reversed roles (well, in my limited experience, I don’t believe it’s the same). You see, I don’t think as men we friend zone women, well not very often anyway. As a male species, we want to find the perfect other half that can always be there for us when we need it and support us. In my personal opinion, the meaning here is that all women that aren’t family and share their lives can win a place in our hearts. My now-wife was the one who was there for me as a friend and helped me get over my heartbreak. Following this, a fantastic relationship blossomed.

It was a complicated relationship at first, though. Have you heard of long-distance relationships? I’m sure you have, and I’m almost certain people told you that they never work out. I won’t entirely disagree with you because relationships like these are hard to maintain if you don’t have a good communication plan. Luckily, mine wasn’t that hard. Long-distance relationships do work as long as you have the patience, understanding, and communication needed to make it a successful experience. See, my wife and I were in a long-distance relationship right from the beginning of our dating; we even had a time differential. It was about a +12 to +13 hour time difference, depending on if it was daylight savings or not.

My wife, Micah, lived in the Philippines at the time. It was a chanced meeting that we swiped right on each other. When we first met, she worked as a J1 student in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin. We never got a chance to meet face-to-face until a whole year later, April 2017. Our entire relationship was maintained by utilizing Facebook, Messenger, and Skype. There was an occasional international call, which usually was only for times where communication wasn’t being shared quickly because of no data or internet availability. Overall though, it was a great experience.

You see, you can learn things about yourself in a long-distance relationship. You can know how patient you can be; you learn how to communicate when things are bothering you, relationship-wise or in your personal life. You learn how to be there for each other, even if you can’t be there in person. So many things. Relationships over expanded distances will always make you a better person and develop yourself. As of writing this essay, I can happily say my wife Micah and I have been together for almost six years and married for nearly five of those beautiful years.

God had a plan for us; he wanted us to be together. It shows just how he works in mysterious and profound ways. I couldn’t be happier with the woman I am sharing this wondrous life with. She’s hard-working, conservative, and progressive and cares deeply for me, as I do for her too. We understand each other on so many levels, and we honestly never really fight, at least not in the sense of what one may think about marital fights. We occasionally disagree, but we have rarely ever gone full-blown yelling.

Honestly, when I look back on the one or two times that I’ve blown my gasket, I can’t even remember why. Situations like that show me that whatever the issue was, it was petty and wasn’t worth losing my head over. I’m thankful to God and my wife that we met six years ago. I wouldn’t want to make any different choices about our relationship, and I continue to be thankful and pray for every new day we get to spend together.

3 Hot Button Political Topics and My Thoughts

Photo By Sharon McCutcheon via Unsplash

I’ve been having this nagging feeling on my mind for awhile now, a feeling that makes me want to speak my mind on our current political stratosphere. So I decided I will use this time to enhance my view on a few common political topics that are floating about these days for you all to understand me.

Free College

I’m going to shoot it straight with everyone here on this hot button topic…I am completely against this. Why do you ask? Well let me put it simply, you don’t need a college degree to make it in this world, it’s that simple. Sure if you want specific types of jobs you may need it, but did you know there is something that you can do to get you certain jobs? Join the Military.

The Military gives you a GI Bill that will pay for your college. You can also pick a Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) based o. The kind of job you’d like in the civilian world. Let me break it down for you, let’s say you want to be a Truck Driver (88M), you can do that in the military. What’s even more cool about this is you can get a CDL from the Military and they’ll pay for it so you won’t have to.

You know what that means? You guessed it, you can drive for practically any truck driving company out there. A bonus to this is most companies prefer military personnel over civilian personnel because of the traits you learn while serving the United States in any of the Armed Forces branches.

Free Healthcare

Again, I am against this. The reason for this is because it’s fiscally unfeasable. Our country is a Democratic Republic, and it’s economy revolves around Capitalism. Capitalism is according to the Dictionary is as follows; “an economic and political system in which a country’s trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state.”

Here’s a fun fact though, if you really want free government controlled healthcare, join the military. If you go active and finish up after time in service, you can get Veterans Affairs Healthcare, it’s free. The trade-off though is long wait times (we’re talking months, not just days or weeks, but months) and the care you receive is very inhospitable.

Going Green on Energy

Okay, this is the last hot button topic I will talk about in this article…Green Energy. Now to all of your surprise, I actually am for this, but there is a catch…We as a country need to be able to afford it. As we all know, Joe Biden wants to push a policy called The Green New Deal. My issue with this is the price tag. We are already in debt in our country (The United States) about $20 trillion or so, this new deal brings an even bigger price tag on it, somewhere $51-93 trillion. That friends is a no go.

The stories try to spruce it up by saying over the next decade but that in reality is an extra $5-9 trillion per year on our countries debt. Our economy can’t afford it. Especially if you mix it with free college and free healthcare (which readers, if you think about it, it really isn’t free. We will be paying for it on our federal taxes that get deducted from our paychecks.)

We’re talking about at least 50% or more in federal tax withdrawal. Let’s put it into perspective once again. Let’s say you make an $800 paycheck every two weeks right now and you’re barely making it by. You’re living paycheck-to-paycheck so to speak for simplicity. Now you have all these plans getting out into action and the federal government wants to withdraw 50% taxes (maybe more) now you’re $800 paycheck is now only $400. And because so much money needed to be pumped out, you deal with inflation. Guess what, that $400 isn’t going to get you anything because you won’t be able to afford anything.

Conclusion

Between inflation and taxes, these plans will destroy our economy. You don’t need to take my word for it though, you can look up the information yourself. When you do, please leave your finding in the comments below, I’ll love to look at it and compare notes!

Tacticool: A Mobile Game Review

Have you wanted to try a fun new game? One that could entertain you for hours? Well let me share with you a mobile game known as Tacticool!

Have you been itching to try a user friendly beginner game on your mobile phone? Or maybe you are a mobile gaming veteran and just want to play something quirky that can fill you with hours of entertainment outside of your normal game? Well let me tell you about a 2D objective based shooter game that you’re sure to love. It’s called Tacticool!

What is Tacticool and How Does it Play?

Tacticool, a 5v5 multiplayer mobile shooter. You play as one of many types of operators in a 2D war torn world where you play objective based missions with five people on each side. You must score 100 points or have the most points at the end of the time limit to win the match. There is also a game mode known as infection where you kill zombies on consecutive levels (10 full levels) and they get harder to kill each time you go up.

Now the meat and potatoes of this game, it’s gameplay and how it runs.

Let’s start simple, the gameplay of this mobile game is actually quite fun, in a sense that it’s addicting and time passes quickly, before you even know it. Playing multiple objective based games and trying to score as many points as possible in a specific time limit (like many other games) is what makes it addicting.

Tacticool has three different modes, I’ll list them one by one.

The first game mode is similar to capture the flag, you need to grab a red backpack and hold on to it longer the the opposing team. You gain points for holding onto it and you also gain points for taking out the enemy players too. Next mode is team death match. This mode is exactly how it sounds, with a slight catch. The opposing team has an MVP, taking out this MVP will score you extra points. You also have an MVP that you need to protect, if you even know who it is, this game doesn’t exactly tell you that, it only tells you when you are the MVP.

Lastly, a game mode that is similar domination, in a sense. You need to protect two control points from the enemy, and if they take one you need to take it back before the time expires. The two sides to this game mode are of course, your attackers, and then your defenders.

This game is amazing, addicting, and extremely fun, but there is a downside to it. Tacticool is a largely pay to win sort of game. They interrupt you in-between games to try and sell you weapon packs and game passes. The thing about this is that the game doesn’t get many new things added to it, so the outrageous pop-ups for buying stuff is quite annoying. In my opinion they do it to make money and they don’t actually use it to update or add to the game much. It’s till fun though!

Graphics and Sounds

Let’s start of with the graphics of tacticool…They are very cartoonish, your avatars have oversized hands, and the weapons seem to big or small for them. This though creates a quirkiness that actually fits with the game, making it even more fun.

Sounds on the other hand are very vanilla, your weapons mostly sound the same, just slowed down and sped up sound patterns that were plugged into the weapons you use.

In closing, I’d like to say that if you like mobile games and quirkiness that can hook you for hours of entertainment, I’d recommend downloading and playing this game. Some people may not like it and that’s fine, but don’t judge a game without trying it first. If you want to play with me on Tacticool, just add me at tshumitto! Have fun, and enjoy the Tacticool Operator life!

4 Surprise Haikus For You!

Surprisingly today I decided to share with you some poetry. I can’t even remember the last time I did this, so bare with me, I’m a bit rusty. I used to run blog where all I did was Haikus, but it has been a few years since then. Please enjoy these quirky Haikus!

The sun just peaking,
The chilling breeze on my face;
Time for work again.
Chocolate Crunch Bar,
All American Breakfast;
I’m hungry again…
Exactly good one,
Dominating you I must;
PvP it is.
Almost bronze-like skin,
Large hazel, almond-shaped eyes;
Luscious lips of awe

So what did you all think? Pretty cheesy right? Well I’ll continue to work on making better Haikus on later posts! Please let me know below what you would like me to write a haiku about, or if you have any constructive criticism for me to utilize in my next haiku post. Thank you for reading until the end!

I’ve Finished Season 2 of GoT, Here Are My Thoughts

This show just keeps getting better and better, finally the action shows it’s face and I’m getting excited! After making it through the first season and then experiencing the second season, I can now tell why people became such fans of this series on HBO. Targaryen’s, Dragons, open rebellion, and White-walkers, oh my!

The key features I took away from this Season

Even though some choices were the wrong choices, I still see the passion and how honorable this house is. I HATE the Lannister’s, the power hungry, money mongering miscreants.

I especially hate Joffrey Baratheon (really Lannister, because of Jaime and Cersei, brother and sister, having an incest relationship during and after the late king Baratheon’s death). They are the worst, and Joffrey is nothing but a coward who beats women and has a sadistic appetite.

The Targaryen’s I’ve come to respect. After Daenerys’ brother was killed, the rightful queen became someone I admired, as she has a kind heart. We know the mad king was, well, mad…and we know her brother was a piece of work as well…but Daenerys’, she’s quite different.

Being the mother of dragons and keeping what remained of her khalasar after her husband Khal Drogo passed due to an infection from a knife blade breaking his skin, we learn that she is compassionate about her people.

This makes me believe that she would be a good queen. Now what I hope to see, (and I know some of you know if this happens or not, don’t tell me…I’m still watching it long after you all have more than likely finished it…) that the Stark’s help out Daenerys Targaryen in taking the capital, Kings Landing, in exchange for being free and King of the Northlands.

In Conclusion

I know there is a lot more to this storY, and I have another 6 seasons to go before being caught up to where the show is on this day (May 10, 2019) but the story is very enriching. I look forward to seeing what season three brings forth.

And if you all are wondering what house I would stand with, it would be House Stark, mainly because the characteristics displayed by the Stark’s are what my own characteristics are, honorable, caring, and family is number one.

I would definitely assist House Targaryen though, as long as they would leave my house alone and give me the freedom I would be seeking under House Stark. Also, I believe Tyrion Lannister is a good man, I don’t think he deserves what the rest of the Lannister’s deserve.

And, besides, Tyrion was and amazing Hand of the King for the short time he was, he exiled the man responsible for backstabbing Lord Stark, and I’m glad about that.

Well I’ll let you know my thoughts on season three once I finish it, thank you for reading this far! I appreciate it!

  • My Thoughts on Game of Thrones Season One So Far…

My thoughts so far of Game of Thrones so far…I’m actually starting to like it. It took a bit but I was finally able to get passed the first season, right as things began to pick up for the series. I’m glad I finally made it through that because it was literally the only thing that was hindering me from continuing, the slow build up…

Here’s the Schmidt Rant of the Week!

I know, a lot of you have already gotten to the last season and the third episode of it, I’m way behind, but I don’t mind at all, because I’m enjoying what I can now, where I don’t have to stop, and by the time I get up where everyone else is, I’ll be able to watch it all the way through! So my thoughts so far after completing season one, well lets start with the middle to end of the season, (spoiler alert for those who haven’t watched Game of Thrones, you’ve been warned…) Lord Stark being beheaded, I WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT…I thought that maybe he would escape and go forth to destroy the queen and her brother for screwing each other and making a son, that wasn’t the rightful heir. Well, that didn’t happen…

It’s coming together fairly well though, I didn’t think I’d ever watch it. If I hadn’t I would’ve definitely missed out on something so very well put together. What I’m really looking forward to now is Jaufre being “removed” from the Iron Throne. He doesn’t deserve it and he is a legitimate heir of the King’s. He’s the offspring of a brother and sister in an incest relationship together. Very, very gross…well I’ve got quite a ways to go, and I can’t wait to see what’s in store further along in this series of shows. I can’t wait to be surprised! And no spoilers please! I’ve only watched season one! Hahaha!

If you like what you read please leave a favorite and let me know, what are your thoughts of GoT? Are you going to miss it when its final season ends?

Good Evening! What are you all up to this snowy day? ( I know, it’s freaking April…)

How are you all today? Enjoying the cold weather? How about the dang snow? What, you don’t have any snow and you are in nice warm weather?? Good for you! Unfortunately I live in the Midwest and we just got dumped on by a snow storm, for the second year in a row…I know, you chose to be up there, I get it, but what you don’t know is I really DIDN’T choose to be up here, I was just born up here and haven’t moved away yet…

I know it’s been awhile, but hey I’m here! And I’m brining you my rant for the week! I HATE THE MIDWEST! Hahaha! Well here’s an update on my current situation. I’m no longer a security supervisor…you may ask why that is, well…let’s say the client and I were not on the same eye level on a few things. What that thing is, well, I don’t like talking to the client. I really actually hate it.

See, I’m running his security force and working second/third shift, I don’t have time to be talking to him. But hey, it’s Minnesota and people get butt-hurt easily about these things, they’re such sensitive beings now-a-days, I’m surprised this state (and many states like it..) are still kicking. Well, it also has to do with the Account Manager (my boss) taking back-to-back vacations, not even a week apart from each other, that caused me some serious issues too.

But hey, it’s in the past, I’m not worried about it, I’m back on my old account and making more than I was making as a supervisor anyways…(I’m still a bit salty about it, when you get removed from an account for the reasoning of “He never stopped by and talked to me…” or “He never came in to see us.” Then you’d understand the chip on my shoulder, not being removed because I was doing bad, just because I never talked or went to see the client.)

That’s all I have for now, tell me all, what are some new and exciting things in your life today? And if there isn’t anything exciting, what saltiness are you carrying? Comment below! Thanks!
